Augusta moved to Sioux City, Iowa and married Fred Olson, a tailor and learned how to sew beautifully. Then she worked a a cook in an estate which is now a museum. She had a beautiful blonde daughter, Dorothy Olson, who died at the age of six from an appendicitis attack. Augusta divorced and later married Frank Hugh Robinson in Sioux City, a widower with two girls. They moved to Portland, Oregon. When Augusta was 43 Mildred Elizabeth was born, and two years later Edward Kenneth was born. When Augusta was about fifty-five years old, a little boy pushed her over outside and she fell and broke her hip. She was on wooden crutches from then on after being in the hospital. Though she cooked on a wood-burning stove, Augusta remained a fantastic cook. She was a hard taskmaster, making her daughter Mildred sew things over to perfection. Mildred also sewed and did tailoring as an adult mother.
