LaNae Jones

HUNTINGTON-Blake LaNae Jones, age 76, passed away surrounded by his family May 9, 2020.

He was born June 26, 1943 in Cleveland, Utah to Blake “L” and Wilda Ann Jensen Jones. Married Margo Grange April 30, 1965 in Las Vegas, Nevada; their marriage was solemnized in the Manti Temple on May 28, 1966.

As an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints he served in various positions including Scout Master, 1st councilor in the Bishopric, High Council and numerous other callings.

LaNae made his living as a coal miner but farmed also to feed his “habit” for horses. His passion for horses started as a child with his Grandpa Jensen and Trigger. He was in the junior riding club when he was younger and continued in the senior riding club as an adult. He raised and trained horses for flat track and chariot racing. Traveling to race tracks anywhere from Southern Utah to Southern Idaho with these horses kept him busy during the 70’s and 80’s.

He also enjoyed being outdoors fishing, hunting and camping with his family. He lived for hunting season but to him it wasn’t always about bagging a trophy. Some days the prize to him was just being able to spot a herd of deer, elk or buffalo or seeing the baby burros on the desert trailing after their mommas.

LaNae’s dream of building a cabin on a mountain lot he and Margo purchased shortly after their marriage, came true with the help of family and friends in 1997. After his retirement they spent many summer and fall days at the cabin exploring mountain roads via their 4-wheelers and side-by-side.

In addition to his wife Margo, LaNae was survived by his children: Alisa (Randy) Alleman of Tooele and Nick (Kasidy) Jones of Lawrence; grandchildren: Parker (Sydney), Keisha, Kacey, Kenden, and Kreed; great-grandchildren: Jude and Gemmalyn; brothers: Randy (Barbra) Jones and Derk (Julie) Jones both of Huntington; sister Kelly Olsen currently serving a church mission in Salt Lake City; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother-in-law Wayne Olsen and 4 nephews.

The family would like to thank Diane and Staff at Good Living Senior Care Center in Elmo and Lindsey, Mary, Samantha and Staff at Pinnacle Care Center in Price for the care and compassion shown to LaNae during this past year.

Graveside service, Friday, May 15, 2020, 12:00 noon, at the Huntington City Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the Huntington Stake Center on Friday from 10:00-11:30 a.m. Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home of Price
