Eunice Mabel (Lundgren) Titus, 96, Minot, formerly of Mohall, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, May 9, 2020.
Eunice was born September 17, 1923, and raised in Lostwood, by her parents, Charles and Hjertina (Thorvig) Lundgren. Eunice was confirmed at First English Lutheran Church, Lostwood, in October 1938. When she was a young girl, she and her sister Gladys sang for church and many other special occasions. She graduated from Stanley High School in 1941 and then attended Lutheran Bible College in Minneapolis. While she went to school in Minneapolis, she worked as a housemaid and nanny for a doctor’s family. Upon her return to North Dakota, Eunice worked in the Stanley Post Office and was appointed as Postmistress.
Eunice married George Lester Titus on January 3, 1947, at First Lutheran Church, Lostwood. Eunice and George made their home in Mohall where they raised their eight children. Eunice and George loved to go for drives out in the country, and would frequently make surprise visits to see their children and grandchildren. Eunice worked with George for a time at International Harvester as a bookkeeper, and later worked as a nurse’s aide at Renville Bottineau Memorial Hospital for many years. In her retirement, she worked for the Green Thumb Program at the Mohall Public Library.
Eunice was an active member of the Mohall community for many years, and was a lifetime member of the American Legion Auxiliary. After George’s passing in 2000, Eunice moved to Minot to live with her daughter and son-in-law. She later moved into Edgewood Vista where she lived until her passing. Eunice was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Mohall, and the Martha Circle; and Christ Lutheran Church, Minot. Eunice’s Lutheran faith was very important to her; she taught Sunday school and was involved with many other roles in the church. Eunice especially loved singing in the church choir. Numerous people over the years would comment they loved to sit near Eunice in church to be close to her beautiful singing voice. Another role Eunice took on was writing cards to members of the church community who were ill and to those who had lost loved ones. Eunice loved to write; she kept herself busy writing letters to her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren and always seemed to have the perfect words to say for whatever the occasion. Eunice also loved poetry; she could recite it with great precision and enthusiasm. Later in life, Eunice began writing poetry of her own. Eunice was a genuine conversationalist; truly caring about people. She made every person feel special.
The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the CaringEdge Hospice Program and to Edgewood Vista, who truly provided such loving care to Eunice.
Family: Eunice will be dearly missed by her children, Paul (Marilyn) Titus, Mohall, Lonnie (Bonnie) Titus, Burnsville, MN, Lewis Titus, Eau Claire, WI, Garrett Titus, Mohall, Winston (Candyce) Titus, Bismarck, Jeanne (Richard) LeMay, Minot, Leslee (Jeffery) Rambo, Cedar Rapids, IA, and Russell (Kari) Titus, Minot; and 31 grandchildren; and 49 great-grandchildren (and counting); and numerous nieces and nephews.
Eunice was preceded in death by: by her parents; four sisters, Inez Titus, Edna Footh, Lillie Titus and Gladys Peterson; and brother, Maurice Lundgren; her husband of 53 years, George Titus; grandsons, Brent Titus and Isaac Titus; and her daughter-in-law, Norma Titus.
