ROSE, Mrs. Martha M., 96, died peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, November 21, 2015, and went to join her husband and children with her Lord, Jesus Christ. Martha and her late husband, Fred Rose, met and were married in 1940 in their hometown of Morgantown, W.Va. Like many wives of her day, she kept the home fires burning while her husband served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII. Moving to Richmond, they had homes in the Northside and Bon Air. The family were active loving members of the Bon Air Methodist Church. An avid golfer at Salisbury Country Club and a terrific cook, she was always supportive of friends and neighbors. For several years, she operated the Motherhood Maternity shop at Cloverleaf Mall, where Martha thrilled to help expecting mothers. She spent her last years at Lakewood Manor, where her kind nature and familiar laugh will be remembered by all. A viewing will be held on Wednesday, November 25, from 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m., at the West Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 11020 W. Broad St., Glen Allen, Va. 23060. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, Martha wanted donations made to Bon Air Methodist Church, 1645 Buford Rd., N. Chesterfield, Va. 23235.
