"Russell E. Powers, 87, of Elgin, Texas died Wednesday, November 5, 2003 in a Taylor nursing home.

Mr. Powers was born in Fruita, Colorado on November 7, 1915, the son of Bishop E. & Jessie (Rhyno) Powers. On March 31, 1986, he was married to Inez Schroeder.

He had lived in Elgin for over 20 years and been employed as a truck driver for 40 years until his retirement. He was a member of the Church of Christ and Odd Fellows Lodge.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Bertha Farris Powers; brothers, Gordon C. Powers and Everett E. Powers; and sister, Dola Mae (Powers) Rhodes.

Survivors include his wife, Inez Powers of Elgin and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Saturday, November 8, 2003, at 10 a.m. at Condra Memorial Chapel. Burial followed in Taylor City Cemetery. Arrangements by Condra Funeral Home, Taylor, Texas." per his obit.
