Michael - Gonzalez Jr.
October 15, 1971 - May 6, 2020

Michael Gonzalez, Jr, (Catholic - age 48) of Fresno, CA died May 6, 2020 at 12:30 am after years of health issues.

He attended Roosevelt High School where he played the saxophone and played soccer. After Roosevelt, he become a welder to support his family.

He suffered with health issues through most of his life but that did not stop him from being a wonderful father to his children and doing all he could for them. He would light up any time the children were around and it didn’t matter if he was in pain or ill. Michael would smile and play with them even from his hospital bed.

Michael was our family comedian who would make us laugh.

He loved to camp, take trips, barbecue, and watching the Raiders with his family. He would pick up his granddaughter, July and spend the day with her. They would eat noodles in bed together just because she wanted. Our hearts are breaking for her. The closeness she had with him was remarkable. The other grand-babies each had their special relationships with their grandfather. His boys and girls what can be said. Michael loved them beyond words and it showed in everything he did. He was one of those fathers that made the time to know his children, talk, call, and just spend time with them. He was so proud of each of them.

His family and friends have all sorts of stories and memories of Michael. Back then our family would have gatherings where our parents would let us stay out a little later with our friends, and where we would excitedly play through the night. We lived in a cul-de-sac where everyone knew each other. We were reminded of playing flag football on our neighbor Denny’s yard and playing flashlight tag with many other families; it was like growing up in our own Little Rascals (Gonzalez, Jones, Rickman, Perez, Plumb, Garcia, Torres). Michael had one of those personalities that people wanted to be around, so Michael’s childhood was full of mischievousness and laughter.

There are many stories like these as we moved homes to other neighborhoods. Many of Michael’s elementary friends followed my brother and kept in touch with him throughout adulthood. Later in life, those friends would come to family gatherings and barbecues with Michael’s grandchildren. Time flew. Little did we know how quick it would be.

Surviving is his grandfather, Jose; parents, Mike and Elvira; 3 siblings, Mary, Elvira, Alex; his partner, Nina; 3 boys, Anthony, Johnathon, Michael; 3 girls, Britteny, Sarah, Mary Jane; 4 grand-babies, July, Anthony, Lily, Israel ; Best Friend, Jaime; Many uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews
