Bernice graduated in 1967 from Mason High School in Mason, Michigan. She married David Edward Walker on April 4, 1971 at the Community of Christ Church – Rose Lake, in Bath, Michigan.
As a young woman, Bernice worked many years at the Ingham County Court House as a secretary. After her children grew up, she worked several more years as a secretary in the Lapeer area. Mrs. Walker was a longtime member of the Community of Christ Church, much of that time at the church here in Lapeer where her father was pastor. Mrs. Walker had many dear friends in her church family. Bernice enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting and she was also an avid reader.
Bernice is survived by her daughter: Christine Walker of Jackson; father: William J. Crampton, Jr. of Lapeer; grandchildren: Daniel Hines II and Mikayla Hines; 2 great-grandchildren; siblings: Angela (Jim) Crampton Robertson of Columbiaville and William (Joyce) Crampton of Hoffman, Minnesota, III; brother-in-law: Joe (Tina) Young of Pardeeville, Wisconsin; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband: David E. Walker; mother: Olive Marion Crampton; grandchildren: Marcus Hines, Jr. Anastasia Kimball and Kimberly Kimball and sister-in-law: Roxanne Young.
The family is planning to have a memorial service to celebrate Bernice's life, when it is safe to do so. In the meantime, please reach out to the family and express your sympathy and love.
Cremation has been entrusted to Muir Brothers Funeral Home in Lapeer. Mrs. Walker's cremains will be buried in Draper Cemetery in Rives Township, Michigan.
