Florence Ethel HUFSTETLER was born in Utah on October 29, 1893, to parents Robert Emanuel and Nannie Mariah HESTON Hufstetler.

When she was 21 years old, she married John D Wallace Smith (born Harry P Wallis) on November 18, 1914. When his parents (Harry P Wallis and Jerusha May BROWN) died when he was about 2-years-old, he was adopted/fostered by John F Smith and Mary Jane BROWN (his mother's sister) and used the name John Dewey Smith. After his adopted father died, and a very long court battle with his adoptive family over the estate of his adoptive father, he went back to using his birth name. (John Smith, memorial # 188991857, was not Florence's husband or the father of the five children.)

Together they had five children:
Frank Robert Smith (later changed to Wallace) 1915-1994
Ada Lorena Smith 1917-1919
Jim Harry Smith (later changed to Wallace) 1919-1974
Richard Alvin Wallace 1921-1994
Kenneth Earl Wallace 1922-1979

Florence and Harry/John divorced in 1923. (He is going by his birth given name, Harry.)
Ogden Standard Examiner 18 Dec 1923: "Granted Divorce...to Florence Wallace Smith from Harry Wallace Smith...Mrs. Smith testified that she married Mr. Smith in Ogden, November 18, 1914, and that there were four minor children by this marriage. She was granted custody of the children."

In November 1924, Florence remarried a widower named Wallace Caldwell Kerr. He also had children from his previous marriage. Together they had Elizabeth, Byron and Derrell.

Wallace Kerr passed away in 1960. Florence moved to Virginia, where their son Byron lived. She passed away on November 5, 1985, at the age of 93.

Florence was cremated through Greenwood Memorial in Richmond, Virginia.
