She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Jim Barrett; daughter, Debbie English (Darrell) of Fort Smith, AR and son, David Barrett (Leea) of Winona; bonus daughter, Genia Blunk (Joe); granddaughters, Laura Massa (Jimmy), Bailey Barrett, Adrian Hartley (Tyler); and bonus granddaughter, Lauren Hogan; grandsons, Jordan Barrett (Cara), Hayden Barrett, Drake English, Taylor Haynes and Blaze Dodson; six great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews who she loved dearly and had many special relationships with. Joyce was known as “Granny Jim” to many of her grandchildren’s friends and always received them with open arms. Also surviving are two sisters, Kay Fair and Mae Ruth Bockman and brother, Ben O’Dell.

Joyce married Jim Barrett May 19, 1961 in Winona where they lived their whole marriage. They moved to their farm in 1997 where Joyce enjoyed gardening with Jim and tending her many flowers.

Her love of family was always her first priority and she was the rock of her family. Spending time on the river and camping was a favorite pastime.

Joyce loved her career with the Forest Service, working there for 30 years. Many lifelong friendships were made along the way.

Her courage in facing her cancer, her determination to fight it, her love for Jim and the special relationship they shared are just a few of the things she will be remembered for. Joyce has left many lasting impressions on those around her and those memories will be cherished forever.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 12, 2020 in Yarber Mortuary chapel, Winona, Missouri with Bro. Lenny Simpson officiating.
