Son of Mrs. Ola R. Williams, PO Box 137, Ganado, Texas, Lt. Williams was born in Galveston on January 4, 1917. He was educated in Galveston, graduating from Ball High School in June 1933. He then attended A&M College majoring in electrical engineering. He married Jennie Ruth Erwin in November of 1939. He was employed by the Pan American Refining Corp. at Texas City when he volunteered for service in the U.S. Army Air Corps on January 19, 1942. He received preliminary training at Ellington Field and gained his wings at Victorville, California on July 4, 1942 where he graduated with high honors. He was a bombadier in the 305th Bombing Group, 422nd Bombing Sqdn., and went overseas October 18, 1942 serving in the Western Europe Area. Missing and wounded December 6, 1942, he paid the Supreme Sacrifice on December 11, 1942. 2nd Lt. Williams was awarded the Purple Heart.
