Dwayne Lawrence Johnson, Jr. was born on January 13, 1948 in Athens, TX to Dwayne (Dick) Johnson, Sr. and Edith Martin Johnson. He passed away on May 8, 2020 in Tyler, TX.

Mr. Johnson is preceded in death by his wife of 20 years, Helen Johnson, his parents, and his siblings: Martin Johnson and Lynda Crow.
Dwayne is survived by his sons: Jason Johnson, Justin Johnson; grandchildren: Bailee Johnson and Colin Johnson; siblings Terry Johnson, Nan McReynolds and husband Dan, Art Johnson and wife Melissa, Sheila Garrett and husband Rodney; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Dwayne coached youth sports in Athens for many years enjoying the time spent with his kids. He was an athletic booster for Athens High School and TVCC, he enjoyed working the chains during football games. Always a huge sports fan, he was proud to support his Texas Rangers and Dallas Cowboys. Some of his favorite times were spent watching horse races and tinkering on hot rods and race cars. He served in the United States Navy aboard the U.S.S. Intrepid Air Craft Carrier and he was proud of his service to the country. Mr. Johnson worked for Big Brown and then later as operations manager at Ward Trucking in Tyler for 20 years.
Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, May 12, 2020 at Autry’s Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home. Graveside service will be Wednesday, May 13, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. Oaklawn Memorial Park with Chaplain Don Stanaland officiating. Services are under the direction of the Autry’s Carroll-Lehr Funeral Home in Athens, Texas.
