Dorothy Eloise (Mason) Ashley, 94, of Indianapolis, passed away May 3, 2020 at Greenwood Meadows, Greenwood. The daughter of the late Melvin A. and Cora C. (Hay) Mason, Dorothy was born April 29, 1926 in Union City, Indiana.

During World War II, she worked in a glass factory. Dorothy was a retired English teacher with the Elkhart Community Schools and later as a Guidance Counselor with Goshen High School. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Indianapolis, the Indiana State Teachers Association and Phi Delta Beta Sorority.

Dorothy is survived by her son, Paul Ashley of Indianapolis; one granddaughter and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Melvin and Cora, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul J. Ashley; daughters, Janet Elaine Ashley and Lea Catherine Ashley; brother, Russell Mason; sisters, Glenna B. McAnally and Joanne Mason Young.

Private visitation will be held at Lauck & Veldhof Funeral & Cremation Services, 1458 South Meridian Street, Indianapolis. Burial will be at Little Salamonia Cemetery, south of Portland, Indiana.
