During World War II, she worked in a glass factory. Dorothy was a retired English teacher with the Elkhart Community Schools and later as a Guidance Counselor with Goshen High School. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Indianapolis, the Indiana State Teachers Association and Phi Delta Beta Sorority.
Dorothy is survived by her son, Paul Ashley of Indianapolis; one granddaughter and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Melvin and Cora, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul J. Ashley; daughters, Janet Elaine Ashley and Lea Catherine Ashley; brother, Russell Mason; sisters, Glenna B. McAnally and Joanne Mason Young.
Private visitation will be held at Lauck & Veldhof Funeral & Cremation Services, 1458 South Meridian Street, Indianapolis. Burial will be at Little Salamonia Cemetery, south of Portland, Indiana.
