Funeral Friday For Lars A. Boe, Esteemed Citizen. Resident of City Since 1920
Death struck the Boe family the second time this year when Lars A. Boe died suddenly Tuesday morning after a brief illness. His brother, William Boe, preceded him last April.
Lars Boe was born Dec. 1, 1885, at Albert Lea, Minn., to O. S. and Johanna Boe, both of whom preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held from St. Paul's Lutheran church Friday afternoon at 2:30.
Highly respected by young and old, his friends were limited only by acquaintenship. He came here in 1920 from Havre and engaged in the mercantile business, first the Golden Rule stores, and later fully independent. He also owned a branch store at Valier from 1928 to 1933. He homesteaded at Gildford in 1910 and on March 25, 1913, was married there to Matilda Hanson, who survives with their two children, Donald of Seattle, Wash., and Mrs. Margaret Kelleher, Napa, Calif.; three grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Al Eissel, Mrs. D. W. Bennett, Chokio, Minn.; two brothers, Al Boe, O. C. Boe, Milwaukee; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Boe served for years as deputy county assessor. He was a member of the Cut Bank lodge, B.P.O. Elks. He has been a lifelong member of the Lutheran church.
