Carlos Carrillo was a modest man, quiet and observant in his ways. He was trustworthy and traditional in his approach to his life and in his relationships. He was also a man who was meticulous, loving, patient and joyful in virtually everything he undertook. Realistic about life, he was always at the ready, prepared to take on any opportunity, adventure or responsibility.

Carlos was born on July 27, 1933 at home in Juarez, Chihuahua Mexico. His parents were Victoriano and Julia Carrillo. Carlos was raised in Juarez, Chihuahua Mexico until he was fifteen years old. He was brought up to be self-confident and dependable. These were traits that would serve him well throughout his life.

Carlos had eight brothers and three sisters, Carmen, Beatrice, Micaela, Ramon, Enrique, Roberto, Ignacio, Oscar, Ricardo, Jesus, and Salvador. Carlos was constantly involved in activities with his family and enjoyed spending time with his brothers and sisters. Carlos was loyal to his family and he cherished the memories he had growing up in a large family.

As a young child, Carlos was never someone who needed to be the center of attention. He wasn’t pushy and never forced his way into games or other activities. Carlos developed a variety of interests, though, and the things he enjoyed doing he did well. He was always curious about the world around him and was often eager to explore it. Carlos took part in baseball, archery, he was captain of his basketball team, and he belonged to a cycling club. However, what Carlos enjoyed most was simply playing and spending time with his siblings and many friends.

While his teachers and even his friends generally thought of Carlos as being a serious person, he managed to have a pretty good time in high school. He enjoyed some courses more than others, having favorite classes and teachers. His favorite class in high school was math.

On March 7, 1970, Carlos exchanged wedding vows with Rosalinda Sandoval Godoy at the Cristo Rey Church of Empalme, Somora, Mexico. Compassionate and devoted to Rosalinda, Carlos held endearing, traditional values about marriage and family life. He took the responsibility of marriage to heart, giving it his total commitment. He was a source of strength to Rosalinda and using his gifts at nurturing one-on-one relationships, he worked hard to make his new family happy.

Carlos brought the same traditional values in his marriage to bear on how he raised his children. He was a wonderful parent to them, always firm yet fair in his dealings. He would always listen carefully and think things through before he acted. Carlos was blessed with two children, one daughter, Monica, and one son, Carlos Jr. He was also blessed with one grandson, Diego.

Carlos greatly enjoyed what he did for a living. He was a hard worker and an exceptional leader. His primary occupation was as a casino server. As a young man, he was a factory worker in Chicago Illinois for five years. Shortly after, he moved to Las Vegas, Nevada where he became a casino server. He worked for the Sands Hotel and Casino for twenty years and at the Frontier Hotel and casino for a short time. Carlos worked hard to be a team player, doing what was necessary in order to get the job done.

Carlos was a Navy Veteran. Carlos was stationed in Japan. A literal thinker who possessed a calm exterior, Carlos seemed to enjoy the routines set forth by the military. His was committed to the job, and he understood well how important his role was in serving his country.

Carlos found pleasure in sports. He applauded those who won, and he enjoyed the statistical data and sports facts and could find himself wrapped up in those details. In high school, Carlos played baseball and golf. Later in life, Carlos was in a baseball league. He also played golf with his old coworkers from the Sands Hotel and Casino. He would watch his favorite sporting events whenever he got the opportunity. Tops on his list were baseball, golf, soccer, and boxing.

Carlos was a man who was dedicated and devoted to his faith. Carlos has been a Jehovah Witness for the past thirty nine years. During that time, he organized and helped with many family outings and youth groups. He was a sympathetic man who valued his beliefs.

Carlos enjoyed traveling and taking vacations. Since he was an early starter and had a knack for planning everything, traveling with Carlos appeared effortless. He enjoyed researching all of his examined options and applying cost-effective planning techniques. Favorite vacations included a family trip to Yosemite Park and he enjoyed camping.

In retirement, Carlos chose to stay in Las Vegas, Nevada to be close to his family and friends. He continued to stay active by playing lots of golf and spending most of his time with his grandson, Diego. Even in retirement, Carlos continued to stay in touch with his old friends while making plenty of new acquaintances. He was active and felt fulfilled.

Carlos Carrillo passed away on June 27, 2018 at Centennial Hills Hospital in Las Vegas, Nevada. Carlos collapsed suddenly at home and was not able to recover from a severe brain hemorrhage. He is survived by his wife, Rosalinda, his children Monica (Richard) and Carlos, and his grandson, Diego. His memory will continue to be cherished by a large extended family and many close friends. Services were held at Palm Northwest Mortuary in Las Vegas, Nevada. Carlos was placed to rest at Palm Northwest Cemetery in Las Vegas, Nevada.
