Funeral services for Mr. Donald Edward Welch will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, May 11, 2020, at The Rush Chapel, Oakdale with Reverends James E. Vandergriff and Chris Paul officiating.

Interment will follow in Paul Cemetery, Plainview, under the direction of Rush Funeral Home, Oakdale.

Don was born on March 26, 1933, in Goose Lake, Iowa. He was the son of Thomas and Amanda (Gentz) Welch.

Don was married to Ruby Lee Paul on October 31, 1953.

Don is survived by his wife, Ruby Lee (Paul) Welch and his four children, Tommy Welch, of Oakdale, Donny Welch and his wife, Garnett, of Oakdale, Jeff Welch and his wife, Shawnette, of Sugartown and Byron Welch, and his wife, Melanie, of Elizabeth; two brothers, Doran Welch and his wife, Beverly, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Tom Welch, and his wife, Dorothy, of Anamosa, Iowa; nine grandchildren, Loren Rollins, and her husband, Jacob; Cody Welch, Hanna McBride, and her husband, Todd; Dustin Welch, Andrew Welch, Sydney Welch, Natalie Welch, Jacob Welch and Gracie Welch and three great grandchildren, Carsyn Welch, Valor Rollins and Addie Welch all of Oakdale.

He is preceded in death by an infant son; his parents, Thomas and Amanda (Gentz) Welch and two sisters, Florence Hill and her husband, Earl and Barbara Foster and her husband, CF.

Don joined the United States Army in 1950 and was stationed at Fort Polk Army Base in Fort Polk, Louisiana. He was a veteran of the Korean War and honorably discharged in 1953.

Don worked for the City of Oakdale for many years. He was a truck-driver most of his life; retiring from JB Hunt in 2016 with thirty-three years of service. He received a prestigious accident-free "Three Million Mile" Driver award.

Don enjoyed dozer work and owned and operated his own dozer company for many years. He loved spending time with his family and friends and treasured every moment spent with them.
