Vanessa Thompson Spencer, daughter of the late Rose Lee Thompson and Herman C. Thompson was born April 6, 1954, at St. Joseph Hospital in Moore County, NC.

She departed this life on February 26, 2020, at First Health Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst NC.

At an early age, Vanessa loved the Lord and was a member of New Zion AME Zion Church and attended Moore County Schools; until she became an adult and moved to Southern Pines NC, where she then became a member of Jordan Chapel AME Zion church.

Vanessa furthered her education in Early Childhood Development and had a passion for people. She loved her children, grandchildren, and everyone else’s children as she held a position at Lisa’s Loveable Daycare Center for the last 15 years until her passing. “Ms. Nessa as she was often called,” loved kids and kids loved her. She so loved herself a nice cold Pepsi.

Preceding her in death, her father Herman C. Thompson, mother Mrs. Rosa Lee Thompson Mosley, one son Kevin Barrett, brothers Sylvester “Champ” Thompson, Perry “Wayne” Thompson, and stepfather Mr. Delaware Mosley Sr.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories to her children: Tamara Cain (Willie) of Pinebluff, NC, Jacqueline Moultrie (Phillip) of Southern Pines, NC, sons: Darius Spencer (Harvetta) and TaJuan Spencer both of Southern Pines, NC, Benjamin Barrett of Robbins, NC; Sister Rev Nadine Walker (Richard) of Asheboro, NC, Brothers Christopher Thompson of Brooklyn, NY and Travis Thompson of Bloomfield, NJ. She also leaves three Aunts, four uncles and a special Aunt and Uncle, Alma and Don Thompson; 4 special nieces L’Jona Thompson, Shandelier Staley, Cherelle Spencer, and Brandy Spencer and a special Godson Tyrell McLean; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
