Susannah was the 8th child born to Miles & Jemima S. Buford. Jemima was the 2nd wife of Miles & was also the daughter of Miles' older brother, John R. Buford. Miles is believed to have fathered a total of 23 children in 5 different states. He moved his family to Claiborne Parish, LA, in 1846 & settled near the town of Haynesville.
Susannah married Joshua J. Patrick January 15, 1857, at Clairborne Parish, LA. She was only 13 years old when they married & 14 when she had her first child.
