Rita “Aldiene” Myers, 98, a lifelong resident of Meriden, died Friday, May 8, 2020 at her home. She was born May 4, 1922 on the family farm near Meriden, the daughter of Neil and Anna Schuster Williams. She was a 1941 graduate of Meriden High School and was a lifelong dairy farmer and homemaker, milking cows until she was 82 years old. She was an avid gardener and loved canning vegetables, growing flowers and taking care of her family and animals. She was a life member of Meriden United Methodist Church and the Milligan Get Together Club HDU.
She married Donald E. “Don” Myers on February 6, 1946 at Troy, KS, he preceded her in death on May 15, 2014. Survivors include three sons, seven grandchildren, , seven great-grandchildren,. She was preceeded in death by a daughter Mary Lou Myers, an infant brother, Robert Williams, three sisters, Pauline Wells, Rachel Ausherman and Josephine Jackson.
Funeral Service will be 10:00 AM, Tuesday, May 12, 2020 at Meriden United Methodist Church. Burial at Meriden Cemetery. Mrs. Myers will lie in state 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Monday, May 11 at Barnett Family Funeral Home in Oskaloosa. Please Note: Social distancing guidelines will be followed at the Funeral Home, Church and Cemetery.
