Mary B. Mandrillo, 86, of 400 Monroe St., Berwick, chairwoman of War Bond drives in West Berwick during World War II, died Friday morning at 8:10 in Berwick Hospital.
She had been hospitalized three days.
Born in Pulsano, Italy, on Sept. 5,1899, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Jennie (Mastronuzzi) Latorre. She came to the United States in 1904. Living in East Stroudsburg before moving to Berwick, where she was a resident for 80 years.
She was a member of St, Joseph's Church, Berwick, for 80 years, and an active member and past officer of both the Rosary Society and the parish Council of Catholic Women. She also was a member of the Sons of Italy.
Her husband, Daniel Mandrillo, died Oct. 21, 1985. Two brothers, John and Joseph Latorre, and sister, Pauline Staziani, also preceded her in death.
Surviving are a son, Joseph C. Mandrillo of Berwick; two daughaters, Mrs. Ralph (Jennie) Nichols of LaVerne, Calif. and Dr. Margaret Mandrillo of State College; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild; two brothers, Michael Latorre of Potomac, Md., and Harry LaTour of Middletown, Ohio; and three sisters, Margaret Latorre of Berwick, Mrs. Michael (Nancy) Vatalaro of Bayonne, NJ., and Violet Steimer of Berwick.
Services will be held Monday with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church, Berwick, with her pastor, the Rev. Dominick A. Mammarella, as celebrant. Burial under the direction of the Mayo Funeral Home will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Briar Creek Township.
