On Monday evening, May 4th, 2020, James Leonard Parrott went home to be with his Lord and Savior at the age of 91 years 7 months and 1 day. He was born in Center, Texas on October 3, 1928 to Leonard Darwin Parrott and Nora Diamond Nail.

The story is that he was home on leave from the Army and drove up to a gas station in East Texas where he meet Betty Jo. He asked her if she worked there and said he might see her again if he drove through again. They later married on September 6, 1953 and had been married for 66 years.

If you ever met EO, as he was called, you would know that he loved to talk and tell stories. This is one of the many things that will be missed most by his wife, Betty Parrott; his daughter, Gina Brunson and son-in-law Barry, whom he considered more of a son then a son-in-law. He is also survived by two grandchildren and their spouses; Austin Brunson and Nicole, Sharayah Peters and Brian. He also leaves behind one of his greatest joys, his two great-grandchildren; Cable Blaze Brunson and Daken McCoy Brunson. He was the baby of the family, and is survived by his brothers; Darwin H. Parrott and George Allen Parrott along with their families. Also survived by sister-in-law Lynn Hatterman and husband Paul and their family.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Linda Gail Parrott; his parents and grandparents.

He had been retired from Exxon Pipeline for 34 years where his last position was District Chief Clerk. This was the only company he worked for during his lifetime and many of the years were spent in what was called the Bayport area. During this time they moved from Houston to Pasadena where they lived for 50 years in the same house and served a huge role at Queens Road Baptist Church. This role has continued over the last two years at the church that is now called Juncture Church at Queens Road.

He was a Godly, loving spouse, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to many. One story that shows this is that he had gotten upset in the hospital over the delay of a test and no one knowing what time it was to be done at. The next day he said he had some people he needed to apologize to because he did not act the way he should have and he asked the Lord to forgive him. He also would do anything for his family and would go out of his way to make sure they had everything any of them might need or want.

Please join the family at Juncture Church at Queens Road on Wednesday, May 13, 2020 from 10am-11am for time of Visitation and final good-byes to EO, with the Funeral Service to immediately follow. Burial at Earthman Resthaven Cemetery, 13102 North Freeway Houston, TX 77060 is scheduled on the same day at 3pm.
