ERIE — David D Darr age 81 died today in his home here. He had been ill the last five years. He was born April 4 1901 in CarroIton Mo' the son of Mr and Mrs Harrison Darr. He moved to Topeka as a young man and was self-employed as a teamster for several years. He later moved to Kansas City Mo where he was an over-the-road truck driver. Darr was the first to make an over-the-road drive from North Kansas City to St Joseph in 1926. He and Mae Stout were married Feb 1 1923. After their marriage they lived in Kansas City Mo and later moved to Branson Mo. They lived in Troy before moving to Erie in 1972. Darr was a veteran of World War I and a member of the American Legion. He is survived by his wife of the home one daughter Mrs Barbara Shannon of Erie four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Services will be at 10 a m Friday in the Pierce Funeral Home in Erie with the Rev Eddie Sowders officiating. Burial will be in East Hill Cemetery
