Benjamin was the son of Elzie Turner Sr and Eldora Turner. He was educated in the Macon County School System and was a Class of 1975 Honor Graduate of D. F. Douglass High School in Montezuma, Georgia. He attended the University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia where he received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice. He Enlisted in the U. S. Army, attending Basic Training in Fort Jackson, South Carolina. He attended the Military Police Corps Army Post in Fort McClellan, Alabama. During his time as a Military Policeman, he was stationed in Seoul, South Korea on Yongsan Army Base. Upon receiving his Honorable Discharge, he relocated to Atlanta, Georgia where he owned several rental properties in Fulton and Dekalb Counties. He was employed with the U. S. Postal Service for 35 years, working at the North Ridge-Dunwoody and Howell Mill Post Offices before his retirement. He was a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers where he served as Union Shop Steward. He was also a member of the VFW and AARP. He was an avid Georgia Bulldog fan.

He was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Jacqueline and Ernestine and 1 brother, Anthony.

7 Brothers: Elzie Turner Jr, Alvin Turner, Curtis Turner, Oliver Turner, Michael Turner, Melvin Turner(Tangela) and Charles Turner Sr(Ingrid).
5 Sisters: Essie Lyles, Lula Tookes, Lois Jackson(Kelvin), Angela Wells and Brenda Marshall(Willie).
1 Sister-In-Law: Ruthie Whitfield.
17 Nieces & Nephews: April Turner Bearden(Travis), Oliver Turner Jr, Angelia Turner, Eddie Walker(Dana), Marcus Walker, Custer Tookes Jr, Cortez Tookes(K'Andre), Michael Turner Jr, Landon Turner, Charles Turner Jr, Jason Charles Turner, Ashley Turner, Adrin Wells, PaDdesha Camp, Pasteur Camp III and Jackie Ellison.
2 Best Friends: Curtis Lynn Journey and Carl Gray.

Graveside services were held Saturday, May 9, 2020 at 1PM in the Oglethorpe City Cemetery in Oglethorpe, Georgia.
