Japanese warrior of Kumamoto and confucian in Bakumatsu period.
Attempts to reform the domain of the Kumamoto, but fails due to attacks by opposition groups. After that, he was invited to Shungaku Matsudaira, the lord of Fukui domain and became a political adviser, playing an active role in the reform of the shogunate government and the promotion of public-military coalition. After serving as a participant in the new government after the Meiji Restoration, he was assassinated.
