Roy Francis Elliott was born August 10, 1933 to Fred and Minnie (Keller) Elliott in Vista, Missouri. He passed away May 1, 2020 in Hermitage, Missouri.

He grew up on their family farm and learned the life skills required to own and operate his own farm. Roy rode his bike to the skating rink in Vista where he met Joyce Baumgarden. They were united in marriage and moved to Kansas City where he drove a delivery truck for a bakery and Joyce worked as a secretary. They had a dream of moving back home and purchasing a farm of their own. Garret was born while they were in the city. They soon moved back to Vista to help his dad, Fred on the farm and be closer to their families. Roy was able to purchase back some of the property that had been in the family for several generations.

Later, Roy married Lorene Williams and they continued the farm operation. Lorene had two daughters Linda and Kim. Roy and Lorene enjoyed having the grandkids. There were tractor rides, gardens to play in, fishing, and baby farm animals to feed. They loved staying on the farm with Papa and Nana. When Lorene took ill and had to go to the nursing home, Roy visited her every day for nearly 5 years.

He loved his pets and there have been many. His latest love was Cindy, his tiny poodle pup. He could be quoted that he never worked a day in his life because he got up every morning doing what he loved. Raising hogs, milking cows, putting up sileage and hay, or driving fence posts brought him great joy.

He didn’t have any tolerance for being lazy and exemplified hard work. He was proud of the family farm and the 7th generation Elliott that currently resides on the property.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Minnie Elliott; wife Lorene, and daughter Kim Short.

He is survived by his sisters, Helen Hail, Carol Shelby (husband Jack); son Garret Elliott (wife DeeAnn) and their children, Travis Elliott (wife Dani) , Niki Elliott, and Kyle Elliott; great grandchildren Liam and Zoe; daughter Linda Basore and sons Travis and Tyson Basore and families; granddaughters, Mende Lewis (husband John) Melissa Lusby (husband Billy), other family and many, many friends.
