He was born on the ranch in Gillespie County, Texas on March 7th, 1932, the son of Charles "Charlie" Ernst and Erna Lillie Schmidt Ernst, married Marlene Ruth Rahe on February 14th, 1959 in Fredericksburg.
Alton is survived by his two daughters, Deborah Ernst & Michael Ledford of Plano, Susan Klint of Georgetown, grandson, Alfred Charles Ernst, brother & sister & spouses Stanley & Doris Ernst and Janet & Roy Sedwick all of Fredericksburg, brother in law & Spouse, Kermit & Betty Rahe of Austin
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 10th, 2018 at 10:00 A.M. in the Zion Lutheran Church in Fredericksburg, with the Pastor Ronald Windecker officiating.
Graveside services and interment will follow in the Der Stadt Friedhof Cemetery in Fredericksburg
Those who so desire may make memorial contributions in his memory to the Zion Lutheran Church or Hill Country Memorial Hospice.
