Angela Jean Mullins Akers, age 45, of Max Meadows, VA passed away unexpectedly at her home on May 5, 2020. Angie was born on August 20, 1974 in London, Ohio, daughter of the late Steven Ray Mullins and Pamela Lyn Terry Mullins. Angie grew up in Mount Gilead, Ohio and moved with her family to Wytheville at the age of 16. She was a 1992 graduate of George Wythe High School. She was extremely smart; she went on to attend Wytheville Community College where she graduated in 2002 with an advanced Associate of Applied Science degree in Nursing and successfully sat for and passed her NCLEX-RN to obtain her RN license. Angie loved being able to help people. She was a caring, nurturing soul, which she was able to express through her job as an RN. She loved being an aunt and she enjoyed spending time with her nieces and nephew. Angie also had an adventurous side, which is what drew her to get her Commercial Driver’s License. She was one of the few female truck drivers out there. “Too Short” was her handle; she enjoyed being able to travel and see the country. Angie had a big heart and she will be remembered for her sweet, gentle, fun loving spirit.

Angie is survived by her sister, Kasey Mullins Fisher of Wytheville, VA; two aunts, Elain Terry Waddell (Brad) of Pulaski, VA and Patty Terry Cox of Barren Springs, VA; two nieces, Kerri Fisher Steele ( Justin) of Max Meadows, Lauren Fisher and boyfriend Danny Ray Smith of Wytheville; nephew, Ehan Fisher of Wytheville; two great nephews, Jayce and Ayden Steele of Max Meadows. She is also survived by special extended family, Greg Fisher and Eric Fisher, both of Wytheville, VA.

In addition to her parents, Angie was preceded in death by her Uncle Sam “Pedro” Terry, Jr; her maternal grandparents, Sam Terry Sr. and Margaret Gravely Terry and her paternal grandparents, Kenneth Mullins and Betty Nelson Mullins.

We find great comfort in one of Angie’s favorite bible verses, John 3:16, “For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life.”

“Your memory is our keepsake, with which we’ll never part, God has you in his keeping and we have you in our hearts.”

There will be a memorial service at a later date. Reese Funeral Home, Austinville, VA is providing service to the family.
