James Tabor Hutchins, Sr, (Jim) passed away Saturday Morning May 2, 2020. He was born September 24, 1921 in Raleigh to John Henry and Ella Mae Hutchins. He attended Mars Hill College and Wake Forest College, earning a B.A. degree in Business Administration. During World War II he served in the United States Army Air Corps as a Flight Instructor. He was assigned to train aviators for the French Air Force in Slippery Rock, AK. He was recognized by the French Government for his effort. He also pursued his love of flying as a Captain in the North Carolina Air National Guard. His working career was spent with Walker Martin Inc. and later with General Electric as a distributor of major appliances. He met and married Doris Virginia Scoggin.

Jim and Doris were members of Aversboro Road Baptist Church for more than thirty
years and truly enjoyed all the activities they in which were able to participate. They especially loved being part of the Joyful Noise choir. They were married for 73 years when Jim was preceded in death by Doris on May 6, 2019. He was also preceded in death by his brothers John, Ed and Tom and his sisters Ella and Betty. His daughter Lynda Sharon Hutchins also preceded him in death.

He is survived by his daughters;Barbara Hines (Ron) and Peggy Hobbs (Bill) and sons Jim Hutchins, Jr. (Tina) and David Hutchins. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
