Rex Jones
HUNTINGTON- Rex Durain Jones, age 87, passed away on April 24, 2020 lovingly surrounded by his wife and other loved ones at his home in Huntington, Utah.
He was born to Durane William “Bill” Jones and Erna Emila Green Jones on March 16, 1933 in Menan, Idaho. His mother passed away when he was two years old. He lived with his aunt Merle and uncle Frank Seely until he was reunited with his father, his siblings, his new mother, Edna Brown Jones and his four new brothers.
Rex attended North Emery High School. He then enlisted and served his country for four years in the United States Air Force. He worked as a helicopter mechanic and instructor until he was discharged in 1954. After he was discharged from the Air Force, he continued to work as a helicopter maintenance instructor for Sikorsky Aircraft. Rex also worked for International Latex Corporation where he helped instruct the Apollo Astronauts on how to use their space suits. Then, he worked for Digital Equipment Corporation as a software instructor until his retirement in 1998.
Rex married Margaret Irene Thomas on February 28, 1953 in Bridgeport, CT. They were blessed with four children. Margie passed away on February 23, 1995. He married Klea Collard Jones on January 3, 1999 in Anna, TX. Rex and Klea enjoyed traveling in their motorhome. They spent the summer months in Utah and spent the winter months in Texas. While in Texas Rex enjoyed visiting with all of his children and grandchildren. He loved hearing about all their adventures and accomplishments. He also liked to keep busy by building generators, engines and trailers.
Rex was a wonderful husband, father, brother and friend to all. His death is a heartbreaking loss to all who loved him. The family would like to thank Community Nursing Services, especially Ashlie Pierce for the kind care that was given to Rex.
Rex is survived by his wife Klea; children, Robert Durain (Susan) Jones, Rowlett, TX., Wayne Allen (Karen) Jones, Anna, TX., Glenn William Jones, Aurora, UT., Teresa Irene (William- deceased) Davis, Anna, TX.; eight grandchildren, Eighteen, Great Grandchildren; one great great grandchild; step sons, Clifton Stuart (Stella) Jones, Sandy, UT., Steven Lamar (Diane) Jones, Highland, UT., David Scott (Gaby) Jones, NC.; sisters, Anna Underwood, Elmo, UT., Mickey Cranford, Wellington, UT., Joann (Tom) Shannon, Huntington, UT., Janene (David) Avery, East Carbon, UT.; sisters in law, Marva Jones, Pasco, WA., Lynn Ann Jones (Gary) Wilson, Williston, ND., Lena Jones, Layton, UT., Louise Jones, Wellington, UT.; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Rex is preceded in death by his parents; step mother; wife, Margie; son in law, William Davis; step son, Stacy Allen Jones; brothers, Ronald, Clifford, Clifton, Roger, Wayne and Lenard Doyle; sisters, Mary Bea Grange and Billee Kessler; brothers in law, Ferris Grange, Robert Kessler, Sam Cranford and Jack Underwood; sister in law, Janet Burr Jones.
Rex requested that there be no funeral service. A family memorial will be held at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home of Price where friends are welcome daily.
