Lady Diana Olivia Winifred Maud Manners was the youngest daughter of Henry John Brinsley Manners, 8th Duke of Rutland, and his wife, Marion Margaret Violet Lindsay, a granddaughter of the 24th Earl of Crawford. She was married on June 2, 1919 in London to Alfred Duff Cooper, later created the 1st Viscount Norwich, the only son of Sir Alfred Cooper and his wife, Lady Agnes Duff, daughter of James Duff, 5th Earl Fife, and a descendant of King William IV.
