John F. Kloke, 89, 1704 E. Main St., Merrill, was pronounced dead on arrival at Holy Cross Hospital, Merrill at 5:30 pm Sunday. He taught in parochial schools from 1916 until joining Anson & Gilkey Co., in 1925. He worked there as a stock clerk until retiring in 1963. Mr. Kloke was born Jan. 16, 1891, in Freelandville, Ind., son of Charles and Louise Kloke. He was married in Merrill April 1, 1923, to Florence Krueger, who survives. He was a member, former organist and choir director at St. Stephen's Church of Christ and was a director of the former Merrill Liederkranz, a singing society. Survivors besides his wife include a son, John G. of Fairfax County, VA, and three daughters, Mrs. Edward (Florence) Moyer, Merrill, Mrs. Venon (Miriam) Dolde, Schofield, and Mrs. Peter (Colleen) Caylor of Beaumont, TX; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Services will be held at 1:30 pm Wednesday in St. Stephens United Church of Christ, Merrill. The Rev. Dale Kuck and the Rev. Vernon Dolde of Peace United Church of Christ, Schifield, will officiate. Burial will be in Merrill Memorial Park. Friends may call at Schram-Waid Funeral Home, Merrill, Tuesday from 3 to 8 pm.

Reverend Dale Kuck and Reverend Vernon Dolde officiated services at St. Stephen's United Church of Christ. Internment was in Merrill Memorial Park with arrangements made by Schram-Waid Funeral Home. Born January 16, 1891, Mr. Kloke was the son of Charles and Louise (Kreft) Kloke in Freelandville, IN. He was married to Florence Krueger on April 1, 1923 in Merrill. She survives. Mr. Kloke graduated from Elmhurst College in 1916 and taught in parochial schools until 1925 when he took a position with Anson-Gilkey. He worked there as a stockbroker until his retirement in 1963.
