Obituary of Charles M. Yarborough Jr.
Charles Milton Yarborough, Jr. September 29, 1924- February 18, 2016
Charles, "Chuck" Yarborough, age 91, passed away on February 18, 2016. Born and raised in Savannah, Georgia, he graduated in 1949 with an Architectural degree from Auburn University. He worked for several engineering firms in the Southeast and was head of the Architectural Dept. for NASA in Huntsville working on their moon race project from 1962-1968. Gifted artist, father of five, decorated World War II Veteran, Chuck lived a long and fulfilling life. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Anna Yarborough, Lavinia Kelly Yarborough (wife), David Kelly Yarborough (son) and his siblings, Thomas, Carolyn and Virginia. He is survived by wife, Dr. Gloria Dixon Yarborough and children Dr. Charles Yarborough, III (Alicja), Peggy Sheffield (Dennis), Ken Yarborough and John Yarborough. He had 6 grandchildren, Charles Yarborough, IV, Katie and Sara Sheffield, Jennifer Helms, and Lauren and Elizabeth Yarborough. Special thanks go to his loving caretaker, Mrs. Anita Sellers. Visitation and a Memorial Service will be held at his home church, Canterbury United Methodist in Mountain Brook from 10-12 on February 26, 2016.
