Philip Carl Turner, 70, passed away Monday, May 4th 2020. He was born on October 24, 1949.

Philip was a retired police officer, serving Louisville for 31 years, retiring as the Deputy Chief. He served 23 years with the Louisville Police Department and 8 years with the Louisville Metro Police Department. Philip also taught at the University of Louisville's Southern Police Institute for 8 years. Philip was a graduate of Indiana State University, with a B.S. in Criminology, and later graduated from the University of Louisville with a M.S. in Justice Administration. Philip loved holiday gatherings with family and a simple rural lifestyle. He traveled Europe and Asia, enjoyed western films, and was an avid motorcyclist, riding his Harley-Davidson cross country several times with both friends and his sons.

He was preceded in death by his father, Marion Turner, and brother, Freddie Turner.

Philip is survived by his mother, Bonnie Turner; sister, Marian Satterly (Elmer); sons, Major Todd Turner (Danielle) and Lieutenant Colonel Aaron Turner, U.S. Army; and grandsons, Wyatt, Augustus, and Cullen Turner.

His visitation and funeral will be private Saturday, May 9th at Joseph E. Ratterman & Son, 7336 Southside Dr. with burial to follow in Resthaven Memorial Park, 4400 Bardstown Road.
