Juanita Coleman, a long-time resident of Ansonia, CT, died peacefully on Wednesday May 8, 2019 at Connecticut Hospice Care in Branford, CT. She was surrounded by family and friends. Juanita was born October 28,1939 in Society Hill, SC. She was the fourth child born to the union of Thomas Coleman and Rena Bruce Coleman. Juanita was educated at Rosenwald Elementary School and Rosenwald High School in Society Hill, SC. In 1958 she relocated to Ansonia, CT where she resided until 2004. In 2004, Juanita was diagnosed with a long-term illness and was moved to Regal Care in West Haven, CT. Juanita worked in various professions, until she found the career she loved most as beautician. She served as a commissioner of the Ansonia Housing Authority. Juanita was also a long time member in good standing of The Order Of Eastern Star Sheba Chapter # 1. She also served as Worthy Matron. She was a faithful member of Macedonia Baptist Church Ansonia, CT where she sang on the Gospel Chorus and was a member of The South Carolina club. Juanita loved cooking, hosting family and friends, playing cards, going to casinos and Milford Jai Alai with friends. Juanita had a wonderful smile that could light up a room. She was predeceased by her father Thomas, her mother Rena, two sisters Janie Hunter and Lutheran Coleman, two brothers Thomas Coleman Jr, and George Coleman. She is survived by two daughters Doris Jean Coleman and Diane Williams, three grandchildren Desire Williams, Danielle Williams and Devon Williams, two great grandchildren Nasir Brown and Niyana Harris, sister Helen(Norman) Gainey, brother Samuel (Faulves Yvonne) Coleman, sister-in-law Jessie(George) Coleman a host of nephews and nieces.
