Obituary for Dr. Mike Nelson
Dr. Mike Nelson, Psychologist, loving husband and father of three passed away unexpectedly at the young age of 68 on Saturday April 11, 2020 in Fresno California. He suffered with complications of shoulder replacement surgery which led to infections and ultimately fighting for his life. Mike fought hard to get well for his family, but our Heavenly Father needed him for a higher purpose. He was a good, honest, forthright, reverent man who stood tall in this world, a man people looked up to.

Mike was born December 12, 1951 in Pocatello, Idaho to Kyle and Dorothy Nelson. Mike made his way to Montana where his first son, Shayne Nelson was born. He was then blessed to meet and marry his best friend, Cindy Nelson and have two children, Callie Nelson-Kaszacs and Chris Nelson. Mike also had a special friendship with his son in law Kris Kaszacs. His three children were his pride and joy

Mike exuded love and joy with his broad smiles and chuckling laughs. He so loved his helpmate Cindy whom he adored. He put his heart into everything he did including snorkeling in Montana lakes, hiking in the mountains, walking along California beaches, gym workouts, weight training, graduate education and his therapeutic work.

Mike loved his work with people so very much. He had a bubbling enthusiasm, passion for helping people and contributing to his community. It was this love of people and his aspirations that led him to California to complete his Doctorate in Psychology. Most of all he loved his children, wife Cindy and revered his relationship with God.

Mike was preceded in death by his father Kyle, mother Dorothy, sister Marie and brother John. He is survived by his wife Cindy, his three children, Shayne, Callie and Chris, sisters Maria and Patricia, brother Jeff, son in law Kris Kaszacs, daughter in law Lucy and grandson Michael.

A celebration of Dr. Mike Nelson will be held on Friday May 22, 2020 at Chapel of the Light on 1620 W. Belmont Ave., Fresno, California at 1:00 p.m. After service celebration to be announced. Please come prepared with your own mask for the services.
