Mary Elizabeth “Betty” (Tuell) Dolan ,95, of Beech Grove passed away at St Francis Hospital in Indianapolis on Sun May 3rd, 2020. She was the daughter of Joseph and Cecilia (Queen) Tuell. She was born Aug 17,1924 in Washington, IN. She married Edward Joseph Dolan, Jr on March 27th, 1943 in Indianapolis. They were married 51 years. Edward died in July of 1994. She is survived by six children: Edward III (Bridget) of Bloomington; Patrick (Martine) of La Baconniere France; Joan (Harry) Kremer of Monticello, KY; Kathy (Garry) Moore of Indianapolis; Patricia (Charles) Lisby of Greenwood; and Betty Dean of Louisville, KY. She also has 9 grandchildren (Robin Dolan, Dan Dolan, Sean Kremer, Cortney Moore, Kristy Reisinger, Amie Lisby, Michael Lisby, Jennifer Campbell, Christina Qualls) and 2 step grandchildren (Trip and Hannah Lukemeyer) and she has 14 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one great-grandson. Besides raising six children, Betty had an active work history. She retired from American States Insurance after 14 years and then worked as a door greeter at Kmart for 10 years, retiring at the age of 74. Betty was very active in her community. She was an active member of both the Beech Grove Eagles and the American Legion Post. She was a Past Madame President of the Eagles Women’s Auxiliary group. She was very proud of the opportunity to present the American Legion Americanism Award to Rupert from the TV show “Survivor”. In addition to the above organizations she also belonged to the Beech Grove Red Hat’s Society and was instrumental in starting Red Hat Society groups at the Senior Center in Rising Sun IN and a local nursing home. Lastly, she started Indy Singles Senior Club in south Indianapolis. She is a long-time member of Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church in Beech Grove. She was also a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Indianapolis for many years after her marriage to her husband Edward Jr. She also attended St Mary Catholic Church in Aurora, IN and St Charles Borromeo in Bloomington, IN. A private family service will be held at Little and Sons on May 12th.
