Roy went home to be with Jesus on Friday, May 1, 2020. He died at home surrounded by his family. He was 89 years old.

The son of Charles Leonard McClary and Katherine Vawter McClary, Roy was born December 27, 1930. His six siblings included: Marjorie (John) Conner, Charles (Virginia) McClary, Alice (Everett) Boyer, Frank (Mary) McClary, Rosie (Bill) Proffitt, and Barbara Ann McClary.

Born in Indianapolis, Indiana, at the City Hospital, Roy was the first in his family to be born in a hospital. His middle name, Marchant, came from the doctor that delivered him. A graduate of Arsenal Technical High School, class of 1950, Roy began working for Eli Lilly and Company in 1952 at the age of 21. He worked there until he retired in 1992. There he made life-long friends who recently blessed his life by visiting him.

Roy had the God-given gift of giving. He touched many lives in a variety of ways with his great generosity, meeting needs and giving things just for someone’s enjoyment. He was passionate about helping people in need. He loved people and enjoyed talking with them and encouraging them with homemade notes. Roy enjoyed spending time with his children; grandchildren; great grandson; niece, Donna and friends. The fondest memories were when the whole family would eat out together on Sundays after church, his treat, then spend the afternoon at his house enjoying time together laughing, watching TV, playing games, eating candy bars, and drinking Coke. He would always tell his children and grandchildren of his love for them and Jesus’ love for them. He also enjoyed talking about politics, current events, and about his children, grandchildren, and especially his great grandson, Moses. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle when he was younger.

Roy was a beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, and friend. He will be deeply missed. The family finds comfort in his love for the Lord and knowing he is in paradise with Jesus.

Roy was blessed to have two children: son, Andrew (Elizabeth) McClary and daughter, Elaine (Don) Renollet. He also had ten grandchildren: Elise (Dagi) Tegegne, Donnie (Jeanie) Renollet, Grace Renollet, Gloria Renollet, Olivia Renollet, Bradley McClary, Mikhaela McClary, Steven McClary, Andrew McClary II, and Nick McClary; one great grandchild, Moses Renollet; two step-grandchildren Arafat Rincon and Vanessa Ibarra and nieces and nephews.

The family will be holding a private service due to COVID-19 restrictions.
