Kathryn was born in Berwick on Sept. 14, 1940, to Kermit and Pauline (Sones) McDaniels of Shickshinny.
After graduating from Northwest Area High School in 1958, she earned a certificate in medical technology from Wilkes College, Wilkes-Barre, in 1960. Kathryn earned an additional certificate in medical technology from the American Society of Clinical Pathologists in 1961 while employed in her chosen field at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. She was recognized as an Outstanding Student by her fellow Geisinger graduates, instructors, and supervisors.
On Dec. 28, 1962, she married Dr. Nelson Edgar Bailey of Selinsgrove at the First Presbyterian Church, Shickshinny. They lived in Boston, Mass., where their twin daughters, Margit and Lisbit, were born in 1963. After settling in Selinsgrove, their twin sons, Christopher and Jonathan, were born in 1967.
A housewife and mother, Kathryn was an avid runner for many years. She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, cooking, gardening, bird watching, doing puzzles, reading mystery novels, and playing bridge and tennis. She loved cocker spaniels, family vacations to Stone Harbor, N.J., and summer afternoons at the Susquehanna Valley Country Club swimming pool.
She is survived by her former husband and four children: Margit and her husband, Scott, Lisbit Bailey, Christopher and his wife, Jessica, and Jonathan and his wife, Karenetta; eight grandchildren: Jazmine, Kasey, Mallory, Kinsey, Riley, Jonathan Jr., Jacob and Honey.
She is preceded in death by her parents; older brother, Terence McDaniels; and younger sister, JoAnn Prokay.
A private burial will be held in Union Cemetery, Selinsgrove, with the Rev. Ryan Gephart officiating.
Arrangements are by the V.L. Seebold Funeral Home, 601 N. High St., Selinsgrove.
