Mayor of Orlando from 1917-1919,1924-1925 and 1929-1931. He served as mayor for six terms and filled two unexpired terms. One of Orlandos foremost leaders, was a native Floridian, born in Zellwood in 1862. As a young man he came to Orlando and began his career as a clerk in W G White's store. In 1883 he opened a real estate office and handled more large deals in city, grove and land property than any other man in Orlando. He was a builder and in addition to many homes he built the block now at the corner of Pine street and Orange Avnue.
Married Nannie Bartlett. Father to Leroy Bartlett Giles. Son of Rev Leroy and Sarah Elizabeth Goolsby Giles

Mr. GIles was a 70 year resident of the Orlando area, living at 907 Lake Davis Drive, when he died at Orange General Hospital of uremia and arteriosclerosis.

His parents were Rev. Leroy Giles of SC and Sarah Elizabeth Giles of Zellwood, FL

His funeral was held at the First Methodist CHurch, Orlando, with John Branscomb, officiant.
