‘Abbās Ḥilmī Pasha was the last Khedive (Ottoman viceroy) of Egypt and Sudan, ruling from January 8, 1892 to December 19, 1914. The nationalist Khedive was removed by the British in 1914 after the Ottoman Empire joined the Central Powers in World War I, in favor of his more pro-British uncle, Hussein Kamel, marking the end of Egypt's four-century era as a province of the Ottoman Empire, which had begun in 1517.

His was married in Cairo on February 19, 1895 to Ikbal Hanem. They were divorced in 1900. His second marriage took place in Çubuklu, Turkey on March 1, 1910 to Hungarian noblewoman Marianna Török de Szendrö, who converted to Islam in the presence of the Grand Mufti. She was then called Princess Djavidan Hanem, wife of the Khedive of Egypt. They divorced in 1913 without issue.
