She was born May 1, 1926, in Toledo, Ohio, the daughter of George and Ella (Haley) Shirley. She graduated from Waite High School in 1944.
She enjoyed visiting with family and was very proud of all of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She loved to work cross word puzzles and read books.
She learned to golf at the age of 56 years old with her husband Spence. Together they enjoyed going for rides in the car.
Betty married Don Tuffley, Sr. on May 31, 1946; he preceded her in death September 18, 1980. She later married Ervin “Spence” Spencer on December 10, 1982; he preceded her in death on April 5, 2015. Survivors include her children, brother, grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and husbands.
