Melda Jane Mikles, age 87, of 1181 Stewart Street, Welch, WV, pastor of the Jesus Church of Welch, WV departed this life early Wednesday morning into the arms of Jesus on October 28, 2009 at Welch Community Hospital after a long illness. Born October 30, 1921 in Bradshaw WV, she was the daughter of the late Amos Bailey and Katie Rowe Bailey. In addition to being the pastor of the Jesus Church of Welch, she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was also a home maker and a resident of Welch most of her life. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Thomas Watts and William F Mikles; two brothers, William Bailey and Jack Bailey; also two sisters, Virginia Hodge and Beatrice Dillon; two grandsons, Jackson and Mason Pendry.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, William "Grant" Mikles of the home; one son, James Mikles and wife Grace, one daughter Tina Morsi and husband Tom, eleven grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, one sister, June Adams of Coalwood, one brother, James Bailey and wife Betty of Albany, GA; several nieces and nephews.
