Dale Brown Blevins, age 65 of Tazewell, VA died Friday, May 1, 2020 at Carilion Tazewell Community Hospital in Tazewell, VA after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born November 29, 1954 and was a daughter of the late Howard Thomas “Shorty” and Louise Elswick Brown. She was a 1973 Graduate of Tazewell High School. Dale was of the Methodist faith.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rodney “Chip” Blevins; one sister, Mary Ellen Brown; paternal grandparents, Joe E. and Margaret Herald Brown; maternal grandparents, J. H. and Nannie Patrick Elswick.
Those who survive to cherish her memory include one daughter, Crystal Gayle Artis Bowman of Tazewell, VA.; three granddaughters, Alexis Paige, Whitney Laine and Faith Abigail Bowman, all of Tazewell, VA; one sister, Margaret Elaine Johnston and husband, Andrew of Fredericksburg, VA; three brothers, Howard Thomas “Tom” Brown and wife, Sue, Jack "Roger" Brown and wife, Judy and "Larry" Daniel Brown and wife, Debby, all of Tazewell, VA; special sister-in-law, Marietta Helmandollar of Tazewell, VA; a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and friends also survive.
Due to the Corona / COVID 19 pandemic, the family will have a graveside service for Mrs. Blevins at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 7, 2020 at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, VA with the Reverend Rodney Lawson officiating. Pallbearers will be James Beavers, Tom Brown, Scott Hardy, Larry Brown, Andrew Johnston and Michael David Wood. Honorary pallbearer will be Roger Brown.
The family will receive friends after 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 7, 2020 at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home Chapel in Tazewell, VA.
In compliance with the order of Governor Northam, social distancing must be observed during the visitation and graveside service.
