Richard W. Maxwell passed away on Monday, June 10, 2019 at Rex Hospital in Raleigh. He was born March 7, 1950 to William and Elaine (Ruck) Maxwell in Omaha, Nebraska. He married Leone Spears on October 4, 1975 at Grace Lutheran Church in LaGrange, Illinois. Dick worked in the adhesive business for his entire career. Family was the most important part of Dick’s life. You would often find him fishing with his brothers or taking the grandchildren to the pool. He had an uncanny ability to reach people in a deep and positive way. He loved his church and taught Sunday School for many years. He treasured the simple pleasures in life – watching Lawrence Welk with Leone, playing peek-a-boo with the grandkids, reading a good book, decorating the tree at Christmas, listening to music (too loud of course), or taking the boat to the lake to wet a line. He is survived by his wife Leone, brothers Fred (Dana), Bob (Kathy), John (Barb), sons Brian, Scott, Paul (Amanda). He was the proud Grandfather to 6 grandchildren and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter-in-law Amber (Phillips) Maxwell. A Celebration of Life will be held at Christ The King Church in Cary, NC on June 15 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Christ The King. Gifts will be used to support the Sunday School program.
