Donald Parsons, Jr., 68, beloved husband of Lois Rachel Eason Parsons, went home to be with the Lord, Friday, May 1, 2020, at Summerville Community Hospice House.

Mr. Parsons was born the son of Donald Parsons, Sr. and Thelma Louise Altman Parsons on March 24, 1952, in Georgetown.

He was a 1971 graduate of Andrews High School, completed the SC Police Academy, and attended the Horry Georgetown Technical College where he completed numerous programs including Criminal Justice, Public Service, Finance, Business Administration, and Carpentry. He was a United States Air Force Vietnam Era Veteran. He was a Police Officer with Andrews, City of Georgetown and Williamsburg County. He was the founder and instructor at the Sessou School of Martial Arts in Andrews; earned black belts in Goju Ryu (5th Dan), Jiu Jitsu, and Tang Soo Do; and was a Concealed Weapon Permit (CWP) instructor. His deepest passion was serving God and he was licensed as a Minister and earned several certificates in Theological studies. He was a member of Fireside Ministries where he served as an advisory board member; was a member of the Andrews Prayer Breakfast, served as a Chaplain of the Andrews Police Department, and was a board member of the Andrews Christian Fellowship. His life fulfilled the scripture, which declares, “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” (2 Timothy 2:15)

Don was born the fourth of seven siblings: Alan Parsons (Diann), Donna Mercer (Roger), Gracie Parsons, Judith Ann Parsons, Annette Tilton, and Susan Williamson (Keith).

Don and Lois were married on June 10, 2003 and celebrated sixteen years together.

Their home was blessed with three sons, Donald Parsons III (Buffy), Chris Parsons (Stephanie Michau), and Brad Parsons (Kelli); four daughters, Heather Rock (Doug), Amy Yates, Kristin Atkins (Chris), and Jessica Hall (Eddie); twenty-two grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings; and a large number of nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents; a sister, Judith Ann; a brother-in-law, Roger; and a daughter-in-law, Michelle Parsons.

A Home Going Celebration with Military Honors will be 3 p.m., Wednesday, May 6, 2020 at the Saw Mill Pond Vineyard, 201 S Olive Street, Andrews, SC. Officiating will be Pastor Brad Anderson and Pastor Billy Anderson.

Internment will follow in the Andrews Memorial Cemetery directed by the Andrews Chapel of McKenzie Funeral Home.

The Parsons family will receive family and friends prior to the service from 2-3 p.m. at the Saw Mill Pond Vineyard.
