Matthew "Sudie Bro" Braswell, 72, of 508 E. Walnut Street School Apartments, died Monday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

He was the son of the late Leonard Braswell and Sudie Coley Braswell. He was preceded in death by his wife, Henrietta Reed Braswell, a grandson, two brothers, James Braswell and Leonard Braswell, and a sister, Dessie Marie Braswell Houpe.

He is survived by two sons, Matthew Braswell Jr. of Marlboro Heights, Md., and Robert Lee Brown of Landover, Md.; two daughters, Dyeann Braswell of Oxon Hill, Md., and Alice Faye Cooper of North Ridge, Calif.; two sisters, Ruby Lee Moses of Pikeville and Bessie Lee Lewis of Goldsboro; four granddaughters and three grandsons and five great-granddaughters and two great-grandsons.

The funeral will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. in the chapel Rhodes Funeral Home in Goldsboro. Pastor Daryl Anderson will officiate. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.

The wake will be Saturday from 6:30 until 8 p.m. at Rhodes Funeral Home. At other times the family will receive friends at the home of Bessie Mae Parker at 814 N. Herman St.
