Helen was the daughter of Harold Fred and Bernice Miller Gotham.

She married J.R. Claude Henri in Star Lake, NY, on January 3, 1951.

Helen supported Claude throughout schooling and career moves. The couple loved to travel in Europe and visited 48 out of 50 states. They enjoyed enjoyed western dance. She was very caring and loved being with her family.

She was predeceased by her husband, two sons, Robert C. (Mary) and Steven G. Henri, her parents,, her sisters, Madeline Hatch and Mary Gotham, her brothers, Harold Jr., Winston (Sandra), and Gilbert Gotham; her her in-laws,.

Helen is survived by her daughter, four grandchildren, two sisters, two brothers, a daughter-in-law, a brother-in-law, two sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Note: Steven Henri, son of Claude and Helen Henri, was born October 28, 1957 and died July 29, 2016. Born on May 13, 1928 in Edwards NY to Harold Fred and Bernice Miller Gotham, Helen made her Mother a mother on Mother’s Day. As the oldest child of her family of 10, Helen adored and helped raise her siblings. A 1945 Knox Memorial High School graduate, Helen then graduated from the Watertown School of Commerce in 1947 and worked at Bagley and Sewell, Watertown NY. After meeting Claude in the summer of 1944, Helen married J.R. Claude Henri of Star Lake NY, on January 3, 1951, before he shipped overseas to Korea. As a devoted wife and mother, Helen supported Claude with his Clarkson College of Technology (Clarkson University) education, as well as his career by moving and establishing homes in many places: Potsdam NY; Akron OH; Port Clinton OH; Elnora NY; Liverpool NY; Clifton Park NY; Springfield VA; and Syracuse NY. Along with her husband, Helen loved to dance and belonged to many western square dance clubs. She also enjoyed performing volunteer work. They also loved to travel, making memorable trips with the Town of Onondaga Seniors, as well as with her husband and family throughout her lifetime. Out of her many destinations that included 48 of the 50 U.S. States, Helen was especially fond of her: 5-week Alaskan Family Vacation where they pulled a “camper trailer” across Canada up the Alcan, Highway to Fairbanks Alaska to visit family; they then returned home by driving through the northern American States and visiting several National Parks, including Yellowstone and Mount Rushmore, several family Florida and Disney Vacations with her children and grandchildren, multiple trips with her husband, visiting numerous European countries, Hawaii, and the Western Coast of the U.S., where they went into Mexico, toured National Parks as they traveled north up the west coast, and took a boat ride into Canada.

Helen’s heart was huge, as demonstrated by her greatest gift given to her husband as his primary caregiver for the last 10 years of his life, due to Alzheimer’s. Most importantly, Helen loved being a Mother, Sister, Aunt, and caring Grandmother, who provided daycare for her grandkids as youngsters, attended numerous sporting and scholastic events, and consistently called on Sundays to provide encouragement and expressions of love. Helen was predeceased by J.R. Claude Henri, her husband of 63 years, as well as her two sons, Robert C. (Mary) and Steven G. Henri. She was also predeceased by: her parents, Harold F. Senior and Bernice Miller Gotham; her sisters, Madeline Gotham Hatch, and Mary B. Gotham; her brothers, Harold F. Junior, Winston C. (Sandra), and Gilbert L. Gotham; and her in-laws, Carlton Force, Dennis Hull, Jeanine Henrie (Stephen) Diekhaus, Carmen Henrie (Joe) Morin, Ubald “Joe” (Mary) Henrie, Charles (Rogene) Henrie, and Clayton Boula.

Helen is survived by her daughter, Michele Henri (James) Gagne of Syracuse; her four grandchildren: Renee Elizabeth(Carl Starks) Henri, Steven Robert Henri,Cody James Henri Faulkner, and Lucas “Luke” Taylor Henri Faulkner; two of her sisters: Rosalie Gotham Force, and Mayfred Gotham Hull; two of her brothers, Howard (Kate) Gotham, and Richard (Janet) Gotham; daughter-in-law, Christine Henri; brother-in-law, Allan (Bonnie) Henri; sisters-in-law, Janet Gotham, and Deanna Henri Boula; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Helen requested no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to any of the following: Hospice of CNY, 990 7th North St, Liverpool, NY 13088, St. Francis Social Adult Day Services Ministry (c/o Sisters of St. Francis of the Neumann Communities), 1108 Court Street, Syracuse, NY 13208 or the American Heart Association.
