Eva Mae Burgess, 86, of Gainesville passed away Friday, May 1, 2020.

Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Monday, May 4, 2020 in the chapel of Memorial Park Funeral Home. Rev. Nathan Ridgeway, Rev. Sherry Lewis and Rev. Ronnie Powell will officiate. Interment will be in Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Memorial Park Funeral Home on Sunday, May 3, 2020 from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Due to the current pandemic this will be a drop in visitation with a maximum of 10 people in the parlor at any time.

Born on August 18, 1933 in Buford, she was the daughter of the late Willie and Ozie Goss Thompson. She was a homemaker and a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Burgess is preceded in death by her son, Mark Burgess; sister, Gertrude Langford and son in law Keith Boyd.

Mrs. Burgess is survived by her husband of 67 years, Rev. Jack Burgess of Gainesville; daughters and sons in law, Elaine Carden and Danny of Auburn, GA, Marsha Boyd Carter and John Carter of Winder, GA; sons and daughters in law, Steve Burgess and Rosie of Gainesville, GA, Kevin Burgess and Debra of Hoschton, GA; 12 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild; sister and brother in law, Nell Davis and Harold of Buford, GA and a number of other relatives.
