Betty Anne Drysdale Todd age 92 went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday morning February 7th 2017 at Park Ridge Hospital. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Her parents William Bruce Drysdale and Edna Sadie Eldridge moved to Hendersonville from Philadelphia in 1917. Her mother returned to Philadelphia a few weeks prior to her birth to be near family for the arrival. Other than a few weeks in Philadelphia, she was raised and lived in Hendersonville her entire life. Her husband often joked that she was not a native like he was!! She attended Hendersonville High School from elementary school until the 10th grade and graduated high school at St. Mary's School in Raleigh NC. She graduated college at Woman's College of the University of NC. She returned home and worked with her father at The Moland Drysdale Corp. until she married her high school sweetheart Frank Lesesne Todd, Sr. on October 23, 1948. She was active in her children's lives serving as a Girl Scout Leader, band parent, PTA, Boy Scout Mother and dance mom. She made everyone feel welcomed in her home. She was a member in the Junior Welfare Club, the Hendersonville Country Club, The Cotillion Club, The German Club and one of her favorites, The Possum Holler Club. She served on various committees at the Hendersonville Presbyterian Church where she was a member for 92 years. After the death of her father in 1964, she and her husband continued the operation of The Moland Drysdale Corporation. They developed The Etowah Valley Golf Club at the site of the old Etowah Brick Company that her father owned. She and her husband retired in 1987. Thereafter they enjoyed winter months in Pompano Beach Florida until his death in 2005. She enjoyed living at Carolina Village for the past 11 years.
She is survived by her four children Frank Lesesne Todd, Jr and wife Judy Lockaby; Barbara Todd Weinland and husband John; John Bruce Todd and wife Dotti Freeman and Dr. Elizabeth Drysdale Todd and husband Dr. Patrick Fahey all of Hendersonville. In addition she is survived by her 13 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren Laura Todd Cooper and husband Ben (Hailey Elizabeth Cooper and Jacob Anderson Cooper); Robert Lockaby Todd and wife Thomasene Todd ( Thomas Lockaby Todd and Frank Lesesne Todd III); Staci Barrett and fiancé Travis Ginn ( Paxton Barrett Keever); George McMillan Barrett Jr. and wife Cathy (Harper Morgan Barrett); Frank Todd Barrett; Daphne Todd Luntsford and husband John (Luke Samuel Luntsford and Eli John Luntsford); Michael John Todd and wife Virginia ( Cayden Michael Todd); Daniel Drysdale Todd; Matthew Freeman Todd; Mark Eldridge Todd and wife Sarah ( Patricia Grace Todd); Pastor Michael Charles "Chuck" Freeman and wife Kelsye (Kassidy Brook Freeman); Dustin Drysdale Freeman and significant other Jessica Maroff and last but not least US Air Force Captain Dr. Samantha Elizabeth Freeman and fiancé Dr. David Zack Rolen. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Mrs. Richard B. Todd, Sr, many nieces and nephews and loving friends at Carolina Village.
A memorial service will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 11th, 2017 in the Sanctuary of Hendersonville Presbyterian Church.
