Pete Hill was elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2006 in recognition of his great accomplishments as an outfielder and manager in the Negro Leagues in the early 20th century. Hill had stints with the Philadelphia Giants, Leland Giants, Chicago American Giants, Detroit Stars, Philadelphia Madison Stars, Milwaukee Bears, and Baltimore Black Sox, but it best remembered for being the team captain for the 1910 Leland Giants who compiled a record of 123-6.

Hill held the distinction of being the only Baseball Hall of Famer who's burial site was unknown, until the Society for American Baseball Research investigated the matter. Hill was buried in an unmarked grave in Alsip, IL on December 28, 1951.
