Born October 8, 1907, in Morton to Alvin and Mary Eigsti Bachman, he married Elsie Springer in October 1932. She died in 1977. He married Ina Springer in 1978. She died in March 1997. One brother and one sister also preceded him in death.
Surviving are one son, Dr. David, three brothers, Earl, Harold and Ivan, two sisters, Grace Schrock and Florence Egli, two granddaughters; and two great-granddaughters.
He graduated from Brown's Business College in Peoria, Illinois and Goshen College in Goshen, Indiana He also did graduate work at Boston College.
He was an office manager and accountant at Morton Printing Co. in Morton. In 1949, he was appointed business manager at Goshen College, where he later served as public relations director until 1961. He then accepted a position at Hesston College in Hesston, Kansas, as business manager and director of public relations.
In 1970, he moved to Phoenix, Arizona to assist in the development of a retirement community. In 1989, he moved to Canby, Oregon, to assist in the development of another retirement center. He retired in 1995 and moved to Denver.
An ordained minister of the Mennonite church, he served under Mennonite Central Committee as director of Civilian Public Service camps in Illinois and California during World War II. He was a member of Zion Mennonite Church in Canby.
